Who is reading this and wants to be impactful but not quite sure how to start? You feel confused in the ways to inspire or coach your teams?  Of course, there are many ways to approach this but let’s talk about one of my favorite leadership styles. Let’s talk about what transformational leadership is, how it can have profound effects on an organization’s success and how this leadership style can be favored by many individuals on your teams.

Alright!  Let’s dig in! This leadership style focuses on inspiring and motivating.  Leaders who exhibit transformational qualities foster a shared vision and a sense of purpose. Employees who feel appreciated, understand the daily objectives, and feel their “voice is heard” can be responsible for contributions that go beyond their own interests for their team or even the greater good of the organization.

This level of ownership with the employee brings up the second point that transformational leaders build strong relationships with their team members. Now, I’m not saying that these leaders are going to be best friends with their employees or be invited to their homes on the weekends, which could be the case.  In my experience the effective communication of these leaders creates an expectation with the employees that we can be friends but we both have our own roles and responsibilities in the team.  Excitingly, as these qualities are communicated, fostered, and accepted by the team it can create a compelling case that encourages innovation and creativity. This leads to increased job satisfaction, commitment, and loyalty among employees. Transformational leaders contribute to the growth and advancement of their team members.

Making your staff feel good and appreciated is just a portion.  What happens when the company starts changing around you? This is where the first point is paramount to exude.  Transformational leaders will see the tides turning ahead of the shifts and start articulating a compelling vision and will successfully guide their teams through change and will have a better chance for successful outcomes. Additionally, their communication skills help build trust and transparency within the organization, enhancing overall morale and productivity through corporate change.

To recap, transformational leadership motivates, inspires, and empowers individuals.  These leaders foster a positive organizational culture, enable success in the face of change and can be felt as a friend to their team.  In my personal opinion, this leadership style is instrumental in creating resilient and high-performing teams that can adapt and thrive in today’s complex business landscape.
